Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Tops Albright 4-1

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.- Lauren Gay scored a pair of goals in the first half as Eastern University Field Hockey topped Albright 4-1 in a rainy non-league game on Saturday. The Eagles scored three times in the first half.

In the ninth minute, Gay finished off a goal on a ball off the goalkeepers pads. The Eagles had several shots saved in the sequence before Gay finally put the Eagles (3-1) up by a goal. Gina Miller doubled the Eastern lead on a shot from the top of the circle. It is the second goal of the year for the sophomore midfielder.

Gay made it 3-0 in the 24th minute. She redirected a Megan Bolton blast for her third tally of the year. The Eagles took 20 shots in the first half and had 12 penalty corners in the opening 35 minutes.

"I thought we made some really good adjustments on the field," head coach Camrin Azzarano stated, "I thought they had a couple players in the middle of the field that really forced us to communicate. We did this, and it helped us to show our skill up the field."

The Eagles entered today's game with most of their goals coming on penalty corners. Azzarano challenged her team to develop more scoring chances in the even strength part of the game. Shannon Keliher, like Miller, generated a goal with an aggressive carry from the midfield. Keliher worked in deep, fired a shot and put away her own rebound to close out the scoring for the Eagles.

Eastern returns to action Wednesday with a home game against Alvernia.
