DALLAS, Pa.--Senior Grant Ferguson scorched five goals past the Misericordia University Cougars in Eastern University Men's Lacrosse's 14-4 win Wednesday night.
Ferguson was ruthlessly efficient, tallying the five goals on just six total shots.
Tim Lamb added two goals for the Eagles and seven other Eagles had a goal: David Darling, Andrew Travers, Desmond Decker, Eric Waibel, Jake Billera, Kyle Gillam and even defender Jordan Norris.
Entering Wednesday's game, the Eagles were 0-3 in games in which the opponent out-shot them. Misericordia out-shot Eastern 44-42 on Wednesday, but only put 17 of those attempts on goal. Eastern goalie Nick DiPiano denied 11 shots on goal while allowing four goals. Freshman Jameal Hadeed recorded two saves in 6:28 of play in the fourth quarter.
The Eagles opened with a 4-0 lead in the first quarter and out-scored the Cougars 3-2 in the second quarter. After Misericordia netted the first goal of the third quarter, Eastern strung together four consecutive goals. Ferguson reached a hat trick with 5:44 to go in the third. He added goal number four with 42 seconds left in the period and then number five with 12:51 to play in the fourth. Ferguson's scored 33 times this season and has 12 games in his career with five or more goals.
