Women's Lacrosse Falls to FDU

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.—Eastern University Women's Lacrosse tumbled 16-7 against the regionally-ranked FDU-Florham Devils on Tuesday afternoon in what could have been a Freedom Conference Semifinals preview.

The Eagles fell to 3-3 in the Freedom Conference after the loss and will be the No. 4 seed entering next week's postseason tournament. The Devils remain in tie for the conference's top seed with the Misericordia Cougars. The Cougars and Devils finish off the regular season against each other on Saturday and the winner will host the Eagles in the semifinals.

Eastern netted the game's first goal less than five minutes in on the first of Anna Charlebois' two goals. Stephanie Hogan added two goals as did Jenn McKelvie. Julie Haggan scored a goal as well. Charlebois wasn't given many opportunities to score. The sophomore scored her two goals on just three shots. She also led the Eagles with four draw controls.

After Charlebois' opening goal, FDU-Florham went on a rampage, scoring nine goals in-a-row. Eastern snapped a 22 minute, 28 second scoring drought with a McKelvie goal with three minutes to go in the half.

The Eagles went on to score five goals in the second half, but couldn't gain any ground as the Devils netted six goals.

The Devils had eight fewer turnovers than the Eagles and out-shot the Eagles 31-17. The shot disparity was 18-5 by halftime. The Devils have now won nine games in a row.

Devils' sophomore Brienna Reasoner plagued the Eagles with six goals and five draw controls.

Eastern senior Ari Borreggine led the team with four caused turnovers and four ground balls. Eagles' goalie Cortney Andes had eight saves.

On Saturday, Eastern closes out the regular season with a non-conference game at Rowan University.
