ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--Eastern University Women's Lacrosse matched Swarthmore College's six goals in the second half, but had fallen into too deep of a hole in the first half.
The Swarthmore Garnet took a 6-0 lead to start the game and led 9-3 by halftime. Eastern scored the final five goals of the game and kept Swarthmore from scoring in the final 12 minutes.
Anna Charlebois scored four goals to lead the Eagles, recording at least four goals for the fifth time this season. She leads the Eagles with 28 goals this year. Julie Haggan added two goals, including a goal with 1.7 seconds left in the first half. Haggan drove right and then quickly dodged left and ripped in the shot before the buzzer.
Stephanie Hogan, Victoria Rath and Jenn McKelvie each contributed a goal.
The Garnet's attack was led by Elyse Tierney's five goals and Lizzie Kolln's four.
Tierney and Sara Lentricchia combined for 10 draw controls and out-drew the Eagles 17-8. Stephanie Hogan grabbed five of Eastern's draw controls.
Cortney Andes and Alina Odjemski split time in front of Eastern's net, recording five saves and eight saves, respectively.
After Swarthmore's lead reached six, Charlebois finally got Eastern on the board with 13 minutes left in the half. Haggan scored both of her goals in the half, including the one with 1.7 seconds left.
Swarthmore went on a 6-1 run to start the second-half. Eastern fought off the running clock and scored five times in the final 11 minutes, including three from Charlebois.
Eastern (2-6) travels to Elizabethtown College next Thursday for a 4 p.m. contest.
