GLENSIDE, Pa.– Eastern University Field (13-4) closed out the 2015 regular season with a come-from-behind win at Arcadia University.
Jess Kinzler scored in the 65th minute to lift the Eagles to their third straight win.
The Eagles had the first great scoring opportunity of the game on a penalty corner in the fifth minute. Kinzler hit the first shot.
Lauren Gay gathered the rebound out of the goalie's pads, but her shot was turned aside by an Arcadia defensive player.
Nine minutes later,
Megan Bolton returned the favor with a defensive save of her own. The senior defender has been credited with 27 career defensive saves to go with her 38 goals and 18 assists.
The Knights scored on a penalty corner goal from Lindsey Tobey in the 32nd minute. Less than a minute later, the Eagles earned a penalty corner at the other end.
Megan Bolton fired the initial shot, but Arcadia goalie Kathleen Finnegan made the save. Gina MIller picked up the rebound and pushed a ball to the post for
Danielle Frasca. The senior pushed it across the line for her seventh goal of the year. Frasca had scored six goals in each of the last two seasons. She has 20 goals in her career.
Arcadia had a 10-5 advantage in penalty corners and an 11-5 advantage in shots in the first half.
Nicole Berger made three of her five saves before intermission.
The Eagles carried play in the second half. The outcome, however, remained in question until Kinzler weaved between a series of of Arcadia defenders on the right side of the field. The junior standout ripped in her ninth of the year to put the Eagles into the lead.
Eastern will host Misericordia University in the MAC Freedom Championship Semifinal on Wednesday.
