Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Suffers First Loss at King's

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Eastern University Men's Soccer fell from the ranks of the unbeaten with a tough 1-0 loss at King's College. The Monarchs scored the only goal of the match in the opening minutes in the second half to claim control of the top of the MAC Freedom table.

Eastern (13-1-2, 4-1-1 MAC Freedom) fired two shots in the first three minutes. Hunter Rosenberg had a chance in the 2nd minute, but his shot was stopped by King's goalkeeper Owen Geedy. Colin Furlong had a chance seconds later, but his shot just whistled just high of the goal. The Eagles had three corners and several dangerous restart chances in the opening half, but the Monarchs battled for every ball and kept the Eagles from getting high-quality shots on goal.

In the 47th minute, King's (13-3-1, 4-1-1 Freedom) broke the tie. Daniel Lorandini knocked a Brian Fenster cross into the upper left part of the net. That goal would prove to be enough.

The Eagles pushed forward and had chances, but the Monarch defense stood strong in front of Geedy. Jadon Ramsing put a dangerous header on frame in the 48th minute and the Eagles, despite having much of the ball, could not put another shot on goal until the 85th minute of the match.

Ramsing had the final Eastern chance of the match saved in the 86th minute. The Eagles had three corner kicks in the final nine minutes of the match.

Eastern entered this evening's match with a chance to lock up the top spot in the MAC Freedom Tournament. The No. 8 Eagles now need to win or tie against  FDU at home on Saturday to get a home game in the MAC Freedom Playoffs. They can still get the top seed with a win and an unlikely loss or tie by King's at Delaware Valley and a win against FDU.

Eastern will host Goucher on Tuesday.
