Men's Soccer Blanks Goucher

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – In the final non-league contest of the regular season, Eastern Men's Soccer topped visiting Goucher College 2-0. Colin Furlong netted both goals for the Eagles to deliver the victory.

The Eagles (14-1-2) had a great opportunity in the 2nd minute to take the lead. Hunter Rosenberg ripped a point-blank range shot that was deflected over the cross bay by Gophers' goalkeeper Dan Hendry.

Colin Furlong broke the tie in the 27th minute. The first year midfielder headed in a brilliant cross from Rosenberg to give Eastern the 1-0 lead. Furlong scored his first career goal in his 17th career start. The freshman midfielder did well to meet the cross beyond the back post and find the goal.

Furlong struck again in the 33rd minute. He hammered home a loose ball in the box. Jacob Myers ripped a shot from just outside the six yard box. Hendry made the save, but gave up a  rebound. Furlong beat his mark to the ball and fired the ball into a wide open net to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

The Eastern defense limited Goucher to five total shots. Jamie Stratton made a pair of saves to record the shutout for Eastern.

Eastern hit 22 shots. The Eagles put eight of them on net. The Eagles also recorded eight corner kicks on the match.

The Eagles will host FDU-Florham on Oct. 31st to close out the regular season. That contest will have post-season implications for both teams.
