ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--Eastern University Women's Basketball rolled past the King's College Monarchs 90-57, improving to 11-4 on the year and 3-1 in the Freedom Conference.
Meghan Nowak led all players with 26 points and eight rebounds, a dominating performance. She shot 11-of-15 (73.3 percent) from the floor and also had five assists, three steals and two blocks, all in 25 minutes of play. Emily Lavin knocked down 7-of-12 shots (58.3 percent) to finish with 14 points. She added six boards, four blocks, three assists and three steals. Gina DiDomenico also contributed 14 points, making 4-of-8 3-pointers and going 5-for-10 overall. Her stat line included five assists, four rebounds and three steals.
As a team, the Eagles sank a season-high 14 3-pointers on 31 attempts (45.2 percent). In addition to DiDomenico's four, Meghan Nowak, Kaleigh Boreman, Emily Carmel and Kaitlyn Dougherty each had two 3-pointers. Amanda Riiff and Amber Anderson added one.
Days after committing a season-high 28 turnovers at No. 1 FDU-Florham, the Eagles controlled the ball much more effectively, turning the ball over a season-low 10 times. The Eagles defensive pressure forced 22 King's turnovers leading directly to 29 Eastern points.
King's hit the first basket of the game, but from that point on the game belonged entirely to Eastern. Eastern established an 18-point lead by halftime and blew the game open with a 20-0 run that started with 16:24 to play on a Lavin jumper. The Monarchs turned the ball over seven times during that massive five-minute Eastern run. DiDomenico and Dougherty hit four 3-pointers in that stretch and hit three of those in a row.
At home this season, Eastern has a perfect 4-0 record and has outscored opponents by an average of 39 points per game.
The Eagles look to continue that positive trend on Wednesday at 6 p.m. when they square off with Manhattanville College at home.
