FREDERICKSBURG, Va.—Eastern University Volleyball wrapped up the UMW Invitational on Saturday with a three-set over Geneva College and a tougher five-set win over Randolph-Macon College in the nightcap.
The Eagles soared past Geneva 25-12, 25-16, 25-23 while hitting .356 as a team, but had to go the distance with the Randolph Macon Yellow Jackets. The Eagles took the match 23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 15-12.
Erin Hillman led the Eagles with 18 kills against the Yellow Jackets and Lauren Sproles and Stephanie Elechko each added 11 kills. Defensively, Rylie Haas dug out 26 attacks and three other players had double-digit digs as well. Lauren Sproles added 13 digs, Lauren Horst added 15 and Rikki Schlager picked up 18 digs to go with her 43 assists.
Against Geneva, Katrina Pisch and Elechko dominated in the middle. Pisch hit .692 with nine kills and three block assists while Elechko hit .500 with 8 kills and a solo block. Elechko also served five aces. Freshman outside hitter Morgan Shemonski attacked a .500 clip as well, recording seven kills.
The Eagles play a little closer to home next weekend. They'll play at Neumann University's tournament on Friday and Saturday.
