ASTON, Pa.—Eastern Volleyball took care of Neumann University and Muhlenberg College on Friday afternoon in three sets each, but both opponents put up a fight.
The Eagles beat Neumann 25-14 in the first set and then played a much tighter second and third set, winning 25-21, 25-22. In the second match of Friday's tournament, the Eagles clobbered the Mules 25-11 in the first set. The Eagles needed an extra point to put the Mules away in the second set, taking that one 26-24. After the second set scare, the Eagles won the third set 25-12.
Eastern's Katrina Pisch and Erin Hillman had double-digit kills in both matches. Pisch pounded 11 kills against Neumann and 13 against Muhlenberg. She had just one error in the day and hit a blistering .561. Hillman slammed down 21 kills with five errors to finish the day hitting .410.
Lauren Sproles added a two-match kill total of 18 and also had 15 digs.
Rikki Schlager set up 79 kills on Friday, helping the Eagles hit .309 against Neumann and .441 against Muhlenberg. Schlager also had 17 digs total.
Eastern continues the tournament at Neumann on Saturday with a 1 p.m. match with Richard Stockton College followed by a 3:30 contest against Marymount University.
