Women's Soccer Falls To Farmingdale

FARMINGDALE, N.Y.--Eastern University Women's Soccer fell behind early in Wednesday's road game against the Farmingdale St. Rams and could not recover, dropping the game 3-1.

Eastern senior Emily Roquemore scored the Eagles' lone goal and her second goal in as many games.

The Rams (5-2-2) were awarded a penalty kick 3:02 into the game after the Eagles were called for a foul in the box, and Rams' junior Ashlee Thompson buried the kick. Then, in the ninth minute, Thompson scored again, this time on a breakaway.

Neither team found the back of the net the rest of the half or for the first 30 minutes of the second half. Rams' Ashley Appel ended the scoring drought in the 76th minute to put Farmingdale up 3-0.

The Eagles, who put seven shots on goal, tallied their goal in the 90th minute. Eastern's Gennifer Vandeventer, a Long Island native playing in a quasi home game, dribbled into the penalty box with conviction and drew the foul. Roquemore converted the penalty kick for her second goal of the season.

Eastern goalkeeper Jules Leco recorded eight saves.

Wednesday's game was the first of four straight road games for the Eagles (2-7). The Eagles challenge Widener University on the road Saturday at 1 p.m.
