ST. DAVIDS, Pa.—Eastern University Field Hockey handed Arcadia University just its third loss of the season, defeating the Arcadia Knights 3-1.
Sophomore Jess Kinzler scored her first two goals of the season and the first two of the game for the Eagles. Eastern's Megan Bolton scored once and added a defensive save in the win as the Eagles improved to 4-4.
Two minutes into the game, the Eagles worked the ball down the left side of the field countering a failed Arcadia penalty corner. Kinzler slapped a shot far post from about five yards out to give Eastern the quick lead. Arcadia's Katrina Dull responded with a goal off a penalty corner at the end of the 18th minute to knot the game at 1-1. Arcadia out-cornered Eastern 12-9, but only had that one successful corner attempt.
Less than two minutes after Arcadia tied the score, the Eagles regained the lead off a corner. Eagles' Lauren Gay received the insert and tapped the pass to Bolton on her left who cranked the shot towards Arcadia goalie Mia de Plato, who had had three shutouts and just seven goals allowed entering the game. Kinzler reached her stick up in front of de Plato and redirected the shot into the cage.
Bolton gave the Eagles an insurance goal in the 42nd minute on a corner blast and locked up Eastern's 3-1 advantage with a sprawling defensive save at the near post in the 51st minute.
Eastern goalie Jennifer O'Neill recorded four saves to earn her fourth win of the season.
The Eagles play their first conference game of the year at 7 p.m. on Friday night at King's College.

CORRECTION: The article originally listed Megan Bolton as scoring the second goal, but video replay showed that the goal should have been attributed to Jess Kinzler. The story has been altered to reflect this change.
