Field Hockey Can't Answer Profs In Second Half

GLASSBORO, N.J.—Eastern University Field Hockey tied Saturday's game with Rowan University at 1-1 in the 22nd minute, but the Rowan Profs ran away with the game by scoring six unanswered second-half goals.

With the 7-1 loss, the Eagles dipped to 3-4 on the year; Rowan improved to 4-3.

Freshman Karissa O'Conner scored the Eagles' lone goal which was also her first collegiate goal. Trailing 1-0 in the 22nd minute, the Eagles tied the game when O'Conner redirected a shot by Lauren Gay past Rowan goalie Carly DeMarco. O'Conner's goal was only one of two Eastern shots the entire first half, and while the Eagles took six more shots in the second half, they were ultimately out shot 26-8 by the profs.

Eastern goalie Jennifer O'Neill recorded seven saves, and defenders Megan Bolton and Alyssa Rowe helped her out with three defensive saves and one defensive save, respectively.

Tied 1-1 at half, Rowan went on to score in the 38th, 44th, 51st (twice), 58th and 63rd minutes. Rowan's Sam Browne led everyone with three goals.

The Eagles look to rebound on Tuesday at home against Arcadia University at 4 p.m.
