ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.--Eastern University Women's Soccer fell behind in the second minute of Saturday's game at Elizabethtown College and could not overcome the early setback.
The Eastern Eagles dropped the non-conference game 5-0 to the undefeated Blue Jays. Blue Jay Trisha clark recorded two goals, Elizabethtown's first and last scores. Clark finished a rebounded shot in the game's second minute. The Eagles stayed within a goal of the Blue Jays for the next 40 minutes, but Deanna Slater scored from the six yard line to make it a 2-0 game in the 42nd minute.
Eastern senior Elayna Simpson started in goal and recorded five saves while allowing two goals. In the second half, Jules Leco minded the net, allowing three goals while saving three shots on goal.
The Eagles had one shot on goal in the game. Emily Roquemore's shot was saved in the 51st minute. The Eagles were out-shot 26-3 in the loss.
Next week, the Eagles challenge No. 3 Messiah College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and then host Lebanon Valley College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
