Women's Soccer Falls To Knights

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.—Eastern University Women's Soccer fell 2-1 in Thursday's make-up game with the Arcadia University Knights.

The Eagles fell behind in the 31st minute, but showed some resiliency by responding with a goal of their own in the 32nd minute. Four minutes into the second half, the Knights regained the lead and the Eagles were unable to recover.

Arcadia's Lennon Kramer scored her team-best fifth goal of the year to put Arcadia up 1-0. The Eagles attempted to clear the ball out of the box, but Arcadia's Jackie Glanfield blocked the clear and the ricochet found the feet of Kramer for the open look at the goal and a near post finish.

Eastern turned around 94 seconds later and advanced the ball up the midfield. Emily Cole left a ball for Alondra Cervantes to run through. Cervantes gathered the pass, juked and cut topside, releasing a sliding shot from just outside the 18 that slipped in between the keeper and the near post.

Cervantes, a freshman, has scored in consecutive games.

Neither team got a shot off the rest of the half, but in the 50th minute, Glanfield broke free of Eastern's back line on the right wing and finished far post.

The Eagles put two shots on goal the rest of the game, but Arcadia's Veronica Willig denied both attempts.

Eastern goalkeeper Elayna Simpson returned to the pitch after missing the last three games. Simpson recorded four saves in her return.

Thursday's game had original started on August 31, but that game was canceled 58 minutes in because of lightning delays.

On Saturday, the Eagles (2-3) continue non-conference play on Saturday at Elizabethtown College at 4:30 p.m.
