ANNVILLE, Pa.--Logan Maurer continued to receive acknowledgement for his athletic and academic success when he was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Academic All-Area Team for Men's Golf on Monday.
Maurer (Lancaster, Pa./ Ephrata) was one of five student-athletes chosen to the team out of all of Division I, II and III Philadelphia-area schools. The sports information departments from the 28 Philadelphia-area schools nominate and vote for this team based on academic and athletic accomplishment. To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and be in at least their second year at that school.
Maurer helped Eastern Men's Golf win its first Freedom Conference Championship in April and a subsequent appearance in the NCAA Championships. Additionally this year, he was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference's Academic All-Conference Team, named the MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and awarded Eastern University's Impact Award.
Maurer graduated in May with a 3.7 GPA and a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance.
