MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.--Eastern Baseball fell to York College on Tuesday afternoon in an unseasonably cold spring break game.
The Eagles fell 19-3 to the Spartans after getting out-hit 19-7.
Sophomore Andrew Check had the best day at the plate for the Eagles. He went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Check also pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
Including Check, Eastern had seven pitchers take the hill. Joe Clancy looked good in his first appearance of the season. Clancy pitched a perfect seventh inning with two strikeouts.
The York Spartans jumped on the Eagles for three runs in the first, two in the seocnd and then six more in the third. The Spartans had extended their lead to 17-0 through the top of the seventh before the Eagles got their first runs across home plate in the bottom of the inning. The Eagles scored all three runs with two outs in the seventh with RBI-singles from Ryan McMenamin and Andrew Check and an RBI-double by Joe Grato.
The Eagles recorded five errors in the loss.
Eastern wraps up its stay in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday with a showdown at high noon against Muhlenberg College.
