MADISON, N.J.--Eastern Women's Basketball challenged the No. 5
FDU-Florham Devils on Tuesday evening, but like every other opponent the
undefeated Devils have faced this season, the Eagles were unable to
come away with a win.
Eastern fell 77-51 to FDU-Florham and dropped to 13-11 on the season and
8-5 in the Freedom Conference. FDU-Florham, ranked No. 5 nationally by
the USA Today Coaches' Poll, improved to 24-0 and 13-0 in the Freedom
Conference.
Kaitlyn Dougherty and Meghan Nowak scored in double-digits for the
Eagles. Dougherty scored a team-high 14 points on 4-of-15 field goal
shooting and 6-of-9 shooting from the free-throw line. Nowak hit 4-of-11
shots to finish with 11 points. She also had 10 rebounds (five
offensive, five defensive) to claim her eighth double-double of the
year.
Gina DiDomenico and Emily Lavin combined for 15 points and 15 rebounds.
DiDomenico and eight points and seven rebounds and Lavin had the
reverse. Lavin also blocked three shots.
The Devils' aggressive defense forced 28 Eagles' turnovers, the second-worst total for the Eagles this season. The Devils stole the ball 17 times. Four
Devils finished in double-digits. Shalette Brown led FDU-Florham with 17
points and 10 rebounds.
Eastern hosts DeSales University on Saturday in the final regular season game of the year at 2 p.m.

With one game remaining in the conference schedule, Eastern sits in a tie for third place with Delaware Valley College.
Eastern is one game behind the DeSales University Bulldogs, but the two
teams will face each other in the final game of the year.
If Eastern wins on Saturday, they will secure the second playoff seed and would host the first round of the playoffs against DeSales, or against Delaware Valley (if Del Val beats FDU-Florham).
If the Eagles lose, their opening playoff game would be on the road at
either DeSales or FDU, depending on the result of Delaware Valley's final game.
Delaware Valley plays at FDU
Saturday. If Del Val upsets FDU, Del Val would take third place outright and
Eastern would take fourth and have to face FDU on the road in the opening round of the
playoffs.
