Volleyball Puts Valiants Away In Three

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.—No. 19 Eastern University Volleyball hit .371 as a team and held the Manhattanville College Valiants to -.189 en route to a quick 25-12, 25-13, 25-7 sweep.

Eastern's Alicia Weigel led all players with nine kills and did so while hitting .467. Freshman outside hitter Morgan Shemonski recorded an identical attack percentage while knocking down eight kills.

The Eagles also had three players with five kills: Kara Tecl, Erin Hillman and Katrina Pisch. Pisch attacked at a .714 success rate.

Eastern setter Rikki Schlager had 30 assists in the win and libero Rylie Haas led all players with 11 digs.

Manhattanville scored the first point of the match on an Eastern attack error, but the Eagles took the lead at 3-2 and never trailed the rest of the match. The Eagles stormed out to 8-0 leads in both the second and third matches and didn't even have to go all the way through their serve rotation in that final set.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 20-5 and 4-0 in the Freedom Conference. Tuesday was the Eagles' only scheduled match this week, and next week the Eagles only have one match as well. Their next game is FDU-Florham on Oct. 15.
