HUNTINGDON, Pa.--Eastern University Volleyball completed the four-team Wid Guisler Invitational Tournament at Juniata College unbeaten after two more wins on Saturday.
The Eagles picked off regionally-ranked opponents Stevenson University 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-11) and Carnegie Mellon University 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-9, 25-17). Eastern junior setter Rikki Schlager earned tournament MVP honors, and libero Rylie Haas and middle hitter Katrina Pisch earned all-tournament team status. Pisch reached the 1,000 career kill mark against Carnegie Mellon.
Eastern, ranked No. 17 in the nation (AVCA) and No. 2 in the region (NCAA), took care of Juniata College, the No. 3 team in the region, on Friday night and then dispatched the No. 4 and No. 5 regional teams on Saturday. The Eagles attacked with conviction on Saturday, hitting .319 against Stevenson and .389 against Carnegie Mellon. Schlager guided the Eagles to that strong hitting performance with 34 assists against the Stevenson Mustangs and 46 more against the Carnegie Mellon Tartans. She also had 23 digs on Saturday.
Versus Stevenson, Lauren Sproles had a match-high 13 kills. Haas led all players with 18 digs. Against Carnegie Mellon, Katrina Pisch led everyone with 16 kills and did so while hitting .727. Alicia Weigel added 13 kills while hitting .524, and Morgan Shemonski hit .417 with 12 kills.
Eastern wraps up the conference regular season at Misericordia on Wednesday and then hosts Susquehanna on Oct. 31 in the Halloween Spooktacular at 7:30 p.m.
