Volleyball Completes 15th Straight Perfect Conference Season

DALLAS, Pa.—No. 12 Eastern University Volleyball cruised to a 25-12, 25-15, 25-11 win over the Misericordia University Cougars on Wednesday night, completing a perfect conference regular season for the 15th year in a row.

The Eagles' streak of conference dominance stretches 136 matches, dating all the way back to 1999.

Eastern arrived at this season's 7-0 mark Wednesday thanks to another strong team hitting performance in which the Eagles hit .395 against the Cougars. The Cougars, 5-2 in the Freedom Conference, will be the third-seed in the four-team conference tournament.

Eagles junior Erin Hillman led all players with 15 kills and did so on 21 attempts with no errors resulting in a virtually unstoppable hitting percentage of .714. Senior middle hitter Katrina Pisch bashed nine kills with one error on 18 attempts for a hitting percentage of .444. While that would be a solid number for every other player in the country, that number was actually slightly under Pisch's season average of .458—a figure which is tops in all of NCAA Division III.

Sophomore Alicia Weigel tallied seven aces in the win. Libero Rylie Haas led all players with 11 digs and Rikki Schlager set for 36 assists.

The Eagles (26-5, 7-0 Freedom) have one last non-conference home game on Halloween when they will play Susquehanna University at 7:30 p.m. (Click here to find out more about the Halloween Spooktacular.) On Wednesday night at (time TBD), the Eagles will host Wilkes University in the Freedom Conference Semifinals.

Box Score

Note: The Eagles were in the PAC (now called the CSAC) until 2007 and joined the Freedom Conference in 2008. Since 1994, the Eagles have only lost one regular season conference match. That happened midway through the 1999 season when the Eagles lost to Neumann 3-1.
