ST. DAVIDS, Pa.—Eastern University Women's Soccer scored first in Saturday's Freedom Conference bout with the Delaware Valley College Aggies, but the Aggies tallied three unanswered goals and spoiled the Eagles' early lead.
Eastern generated plenty of opportunities to score, taking 17 shots, tied for their highest total in a game this season, as well as eight corner kicks, their second highest total.
The Eagles took the 1-0 lead in the 31st minute on Emily Roquemore's third goal of the season. Teammate Emily Cole started with the ball on the left wing and worked a give and go with Allison Speese. Cole, in the penalty box arc, located Roquemore to her right, outside the 18. Roquemore snapped a quick one-timer that skipped under Del Val goalie Kelly Quinn and gave Eastern the lead.
Eastern, however, was unable to carry the lead into the locker room, as Del Val headed in a corner kick with three minutes remaining in the first half. The Aggies scored the go-ahead goal in the 55th minute as Elisha Taney finished an unsuccessful Eastern clear. Taney, Del Val's leading scorer, netted her second of the game to give Del Val some insurance, flicking in a header in the 76th minute.
The Aggies put some distance between them and the Eagles in the race for a remaining Freedom Conference playoff spot. The Aggies are now 2-1-1 in conference while Eastern dropped to 1-3. The Eagles have three remaining conference games beginning with King's College at home on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
