Women's Soccer Stopped By No. 18 Misericordia

DALLAS, Pa.--Eastern University Women's Soccer fell in a tussle with another difficult opponent on Thursday, dropping a Freedom Conference contest with the nation's No. 18 team, the Misericordia University Cougars.
 
The Cougars ran past the Eagles 7-0, led by Meghan Antrim's hat trick. The Eagles took seven shots, but were out-paced by the Cougars who took 23 shots. Eastern freshman Amber Stirling, who scored the game-winner on Saturday, had one of the best chances for the Eagles late in the second half on a breakaway, but Misericordia's keeper came up with the save.
 
Misericordia struck early, taking the lead 2:04 into the game. Antrim followed with her first goal of the night four minutes later. Cougar Jacquelin Stevens scored at the end of the 8th minute and then again a little more than a minute later. By halftime, the Eagles trailed 6-0.
 
With the loss Eastern dropped to 1-2 in the Freedom Conference.The Eagles get another chance to improve their Freedom record on Saturday when they host Delaware Valley College at noon.
