Volleyball Serves Way To First Conference Win

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.--Eastern Volleyball took care of its first conference opponent of the 2013 season Wednesday night in three sets.

The Eagles dispatched the King's College Monarchs 25-13, 25-17, 25-7.

Virtually every fourth serve was an ace for the Eagles as they peppered the Monarchs with 20 aces in 72 attempts. Last season, Eastern recorded 19 aces against King's, with Kearby Benak recording eight of those aces then. Benak did not play in Wednesday's game. Freshman libero Rylie Haas served five aces and sophomore Erin Hillman served four aces. Hillman led the Eagles with nine kills (.429 hitting percentage).

Katrina Pisch added seven kills on nine attempts (.778). Pisch entered this week with the highest hitting percentage in NCAA Division III (players with min. 100+ attacks).

Eastern, now 12-1 (1-0 Freedom), will make its home debut on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against Juniata College in a battle of top-20 teams. Eastern enters the game ranked No. 18 in the country while undefeated Juniata comes in at No. 16.
