Field Hockey Deals Widener First Loss

CHESTER, Pa.--Eastern Field Hockey (2-2) bounced back from a loss Saturday with a 3-1 win over the Widener University Pride on Tuesday night.

The Eagles scored in the 11th minute with Jess Jaindl tapping a cross from Danielle Frasca for her third goal of the season.

Defender Megan Bolton came up on a corner in the 23rd minute and fired one of her signature blasts off the corner past Widener's goalie. Alexa Borrelli received the assist on the insert. The Eagles earned 13 penalty corners to Widener's seven.

The Eagles took a 2-0 lead into halftime and neither team scored for the next 22 minutes. The Eagles earned a penalty stroke in the 58th minute. Bolton took the stroke and sunk her second goal of the game, giving the Eagles some breathing room.

Widener got on the scoreboard in the 64th minute. Sophomore Jennifer O'Neill tended the net today for the Eagles. She saved five shots while allowing just one goal.

Eastern was bumped just out of the latest NFHCA Top 20 poll after losses to the current No. 1 and No. 8 teams. The Eagles have the most votes of teams outside the Top 20.

The Eagles play at Richard Stockton on Saturday at 1 p.m.
