Women's Soccer Falls at King's

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.--Eastern Women's Soccer fell 2-0 against King's College on Saturday, making next Saturday's game a virtual playoff game.

The Eagles could have locked up a playoff berth with a win today, but now that their conference record sits at 2-3-1, the Eagles will need to defeat the 3-3 FDU-Florham Devils next Saturday to get into the conference tournament.

Eastern fell behind 1-0 in the ninth minute after King's Ivy Nulton tracked down a through ball, racing past Eastern's backline and sliding a shot past keeper Elayna Simpson in a one-on-one break.

Playing from behind, the Eagles struggled to get generate offense, despite holding a majority of possesion in the end of the first half. The Eagles took eight shots, three of which were on goal.

King's tacked on their second goal in the 74th minute.

Eagles' keeper Elayna Simpson recorded four saves in the loss.

Eagles' head coach Dan Mouw said that they know what they need to do to solve some of the problems they experienced today. "We need to have a good week of practice and we hope that our midweek game (against Ursinus) can help prepare us for a tough weekend test against FDU-Florham," he said. "The nice thing is we control our own destiny."

The Eagles play at Ursinus College at  7 p.m. on Wednesday and then host the FDU-Florham Devils on Saturday at noon.
