GLASSBORO, N.J.--Eastern Field Hockey's six-game win streak came to an end when Rowan University's Marisa Marini slid in a goal in the 74th minute.
Eastern trailed 2-0 after the Rowan Profs, ranked No. 20 in the nation, scored two unassisted goals in the fifth minute and the 15th minute. Eastern showed resiliency by scoring in the 27th minute and the 49th minute to tie the game. Megan Bolton scored her third goal of the year, receiving an assist from Brittany Moyer after a penalty corner, to cut the Profs lead to 2-1. Jess Jaindl scored her fourth goal of the season to even the game at 2-2.
The Eagles took five more shots before the end of regulation, but were unable to break the tie.
Two and a half minutes into overtime, Rowan's Marisa Marini came off the bench. Marini scored the game-winner 1:35 later.
Statistically Eastern trailed in overall shots 15-18, but put 10 shots on goal compared to Rowan's eight. Eastern freshman goalkeeper Kylie Jones played her first entire game in goal for the Eagles and recorded five saves.
The Eagles look to bounce back on Saturday as they take on King's College for the second Freedom Conference game of the year.
