The Eagles(12-9-1) fell 5-0 in the opener and dropped the nightcap 10-1.
Alvernia
(20-2) broke into the scoring column in game one with a single run in
the third. After Eastern starter had made it through the first seven
hitters in the line-up, Jaquelyn Torres doubled to center and scored
when Katie Manowski lashed a single up the middle.
The Crusaders
scored a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth in support of
starter Brittanie Wolfe. Alvernia's first-year standout struck out a
pair and allowed only three hits to pick up her tenth win of the year.
The
Eagles started slowly with a pair of errors leading to three runs in
the top of the first in the second game. The Eastern hitters reached
with some regularity, but Alvernia starter Deanna Dungee kept the
shutout until Sam Fichter delivered a two-out RBI single in the fourth.
The
Crusader fielders made numerous plays in support of Dungee (7-1).
Torres robbed Jaime Schwartz of at least a double with an incredible
diving catch in center.
The Eagles will look to find their way
back into the winning column when they take on Delaware Valley College
in an important Freedom Conference doubleheader on Thursday.
