Women's LAX Drops Away Game At FDU

MADISON, N.J.--Eastern Women's Lacrosse succumbed to the FDU-Florham Devils 15-7 Wednesday night for the Eagles' first conference loss of the season.

With the loss, Eastern dropped to 5-8 this season and 3-1 in the Freedom Conference. The Devils improved to 8-6 and 3-0 in the conference.

Things looked great for the Eagles after the first ten minutes. Eastern senior Allie Fultz netted a goal just 44 seconds into the game. The Devils responded with a goal one minute later, but Fultz gave the Eagles the lead back with 26:48 on her second goal of the game. The Devils tied the score at 2-2, but Eagles' Courtney Reinhold and Kendall Rood soon scored to put the Eagles up 4-2 with 20:07 to go in the first half.

The two-goal disappeared quickly as the Devils became unstoppable. The Devils held the Eagles scoreless for the next 30 minutes exactly, and scored 11 goals during that stretch.

Eastern's Allie Gauthier ended the drought with a goal at 10:07 in the second half, but by then, down 13-5, it was too late. Gauthier and Julia Furniss added another goal before game's end.

Eagles' head coach Camrin Azzarano did note one positive from the game. She said that midfielder Suzzanah McNamara played outstanding defensively and on the draw. McNamara earned eight of Eastern's 11 draw controls.

The Eagles continue Freedom Conference play on Saturday at Misericordia at 1 pm.
