VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- Will Johnson scored five goals and added
an assist as Eastern University Men's Lacrosse topped Wesley College
12-8 in a rugged neutral site contest in Virginia Beach. Grant Ferguson
scored three times and Chris Farrar added a goal and three assists as
the Eagles broke open a close game with four goals in the third quarter.
Patt Groschan stopped seven shots to earn his second win of the year for the Eagles (2-1).
"Will was the man today," Head Coach Kevin Wallace stated, "when we
needed a goal, it seemed like he got one. I felt our guys did a good job
of keeping their composure as the game got a little crazy."
The Eagles took advantage of a pair of three minute penalties and were
able to maintain possession for much of the fourth quarter.
Kyle Lansey, Eric Waibel, and Andrew Travers also added goals for the
Eagles. With Ferguson's three tallies, Eastern freshmen accounted for
half the team's scoring on the afternoon.
The Eagles continue their road-heavy start of the schedule with a game
at McDaniel College on Saturday. They will play their first home game of
the year against Utica on March 13.
