Field Hockey Clinches Second Playoff Spot

DOYLESTOWN, Pa.--Eastern Field Hockey locked up the second seed in the Freedom Conference with a 6-0 victory at Delaware Valley College on Tuesday evening.

The No. 19 Eagles wrapped up the regular season with a 13-5 overall record and a 6-1 record in the Freedom Conference. The Eagles outscored Freedom Conference opponents 41-11 this season. A 7 p.m. game between FDU-Florham and Manhattanville will decide who (DVC, FDU or Manhattanville) receives the third and fourth spots in the Freedom Conference playoffs. King's, who beat Eastern 2-1 in September, took the first seed.

Eastern junior Jess Jaindl scored three goals in Tuesday's win for her third consecutive hat trick and her fourth this season. Jaindl, last week's conference Player of the Week, picked up right where she left off, scoring once in the first half and twice in the second half. Jaindl leads Eastern with 17 goals this season.

Senior Kelby Bolton scored twice, earning her 11th and 12th goals of the season. Kaycie Andrew scored the Eagles sixth goal of the game for her sixth goal of the season.

Senior Brittany Moyer recorded assists on the final three goals upping her total to 22 this season.

Eastern's first two goals came off penalty corners with Kelby Bolton starting the scoring in the 7th minute, assisted by Carly Friedman. Jaindl put the Eagles up 2-0 in the 15th minute with the assist from Megan Bolton.

The Eagles led 2-0 at halftime, but Jaindl scored again three minutes into the half, this time assisted by Abby Wagner. Jaindl put Eastern up 4-0 three minutes later on Moyer's first assist of the game.

Moyer found Kelby Bolton on a penalty corner insert in the 55th minute for the 5-0 lead, and Moyer found Andrew one minute later for the sixth and final goal.

Eagles' freshman goalies Kylie Jones and Jennifer O'Neill combined for the shutout. Jones made two saves in 66 minutes of play. Eastern outshot 22-3, and both teams earned identical numbers in penalty corners.

Eastern will host the Freedom Conference's No. 3 seed on Oct. 31. The time is to-be-determined.
