WILMINGTON, Ohio--Eastern University Women's Basketball fought back from a 13-point halftime deficit, but were unable to complete the comeback against Wilmington College on Saturday.
Host Wilmington College held off the Eagles late rally to win 71-68.
For Eastern, Shante Jones scored 18 points, Meghan Nowak 16 and Katie Lincoln 11. Jones and Nowak were named to the All-Tournament team.
Nowak also added 10 rebounds to earn the double-double.
Eastern fell behind 26-39 in the first half, shooting just nine-for-30 in the first half and committing 12 turnovers.
In the second half, Eastern began a slow rally and even narrowed the difference to one point with 7:51 left. Bekah Roland's jump shot made the score 51-52. However that was as close as the Eagles would come to completing the comeback.
On the positive side, Eastern's bench made a hearty contribution in the score column, outscoring Wilmington's bench 31-18.
Eastern plays at Valley Forge Christian on Tuesday.
