ASTON, Pa.--Eastern University Volleyball advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament with a 25-12, 25-15, 25-12 win over Penn St.-Altoona Friday night.
The Eagles (33-2) finished with a .337 hitting percentage and kept the Lions (18-12) in the red, limiting them to a -0.032 hitting percentage throughout the match.
Three Eagles hit at least .500. Courtney Reinhold reached .500 exactly with 16 kills and two errors on 28 attempts. Katrina Pisch, who led the conference in hitting percentage, hit .571 with eight kills on 14 attempts. Pisch increased her average to .412 for the season.
Setter Maria Horning finished with a team high .600 hitting percentage with seven kills. Seven kills ties Horning's season high for kills in a match, a number she's now reached for the fourth time this year.
Junior libero Kelly Groff recorded 17 digs, giving her 500 digs in a season for the second year in a row. Groff now has 513 this season and 1,411 in her career.
Courtney Reinhold is also nearing the 1,500 career dig mark. She has 1,483 digs in four seasons.
The Eagles take on the Hiram College Terriers at 6 pm Saturday.

Friday's action started with a five-set marathon between the teams with the longest names in the region, the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders and the Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen. After falling behind two games to none, the Dutchmen rallied to win the next two sets and force a fifth game. However, the Purple Raiders recovered and held off the Dutchmen 15-13 in the final set. The final scores for the match were Mt. Union 25-18, 25-20, 21-25, 22-25, 15-13.
In the 3 pm matchup, Juniata College handled Cabrini College 25-13, 25-7, 27-25. Juniata hit .367 as a team as they staved off Cabrini's late comeback.
For the third match Friday, Hiram College knocked off Stevenson University 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 25-18. Stevenson's 31-4 season came to a sickening end when Hiram's Ashley Venable dinked a playable ball over the net that dropped in the middle of a group of Stevenson players.  Â
