PURCHASE, N.Y.- Eastern University Volleyball cruised to a
12th straight win with a convincing 3-0 win at Manhattanville College. The No. 5
Eagles (19-1, 4-0 Freedom) hit efficiently and served nine aces on the
way to the win.
Maria Horning led the Eastern attack with 30
assists, 10 digs, and three kills. The three-time All-American moved the
ball around and involved six other hitters in the attack. The Eagles
hit .439 with 43 kills in the match. Sophomore standout Kearby Benak
recorded a match-high ten kills on 22 swings, and Courtney Reinhold was used surgical precision to record eight kills on only 11 attacks.
Makana Gomes recorded six kills to pace the Valiants (9-8, 0-4)
The 25-6,
25-7, 25-10 win comes three years and a day after Eastern Volleyball's
last loss to a team outside the AVCA top 25. That string of games is at
94.
The Eagles return home to host Eagle Road Rival Cabrini College in a 10 am match on Homecoming Saturday.
