Field Hockey Beats DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa.--Eastern University Field Hockey earned an important conference win Saturday, defeating the DeSales University Bulldogs 3-0.

Eastern dominated the offensive statistics, shooting 20 more times than DeSales, 26-6, and earning 16 penalty corners to DeSales' five.

Freshman Katie Lipsit started the scoring for the Eagles, netting her first goal of the season 16:58 into the game. Lipsit received the pass from Brittany Moyer and nailed a shot to the right of DeSales' goalkeeper.

Neither team scored in the rest of the first half, but Eastern earned another tally eight minutes into the second half when Brittany Moyer found Yvonne Herbster in front of the net.  Herbster volleyed in the ball for her sixth goal of the season. Moyer earned her second assist of the game and her sixth this season.

Eastern added an insurance goal in the 58th minute as Abby Wagner scored her ninth goal of the season, cleaning up another deflection in front of the net.

Goalie Sara Blaylock made two saves and earned her first career shutout. 

The Eagles are now 8-8 this season and 5-1 in the Freedom Conference. Eastern plays its final conference game Tuesday at 4 pm versus Delaware Valley College.
