WILKES-BARRE, Pa.--Eastern University Women's Volleyball cruised to a 3-0 win at King's College to extend their winning streak to 16 games and set up a battle for the top seed n the Freedom Conference when DeSales visits St. Davids next Wednesday. The match with the Monarchs had a sense of inevitability about it from the outset as the No. 5 Eagles (23-1, 6-0 Freedom) brought an explosive attack that hits .313 and an aggressive service game against a team looking for a fourth win on the year.
There would be no upset action as the Eagles jumped to an early lead in set number one and never looked back on the way to a 25- 11, 25- 9, 25- 4 win.
Courtney Reinhold finished with a match-best 14 kills and Maria Horning spread the ball around with 32 assists and two kills of her own. The Eagles hit .500 for the match.
Reinhold, who earlier this year became the first Eastern University player to amass 1800 career kills, is making steady progress toward the exclusive 2,000 kill plateau. Reinhold finished three aces short of the Eastern University single match record with 14.
Lauren Sproles continued her strong rookie season with 12 kills on only 15 swings.
The Eagles host a trio of games on Friday and Saturday, including a big test against 2010 Sweet 16 participant Randolph-Macon on Saturday morning. Next Wednesday's home game against DeSales will pit the Eagles against the 25-3 Bulldogs who are also unbeaten in league play.
