Eastern University Women's Lacrosse scored ten second half goals to
earn an 18-8 win at Arcadia University on Saturday afternoon. Grace
Griffith scored five times and Krystal Cairns had a goal and four
assists.
Though the Eagles never trailed in the contest, the host
Knights kept things close through the first period. Griffith scored
three times in the first five minutes to put the guests up 3-1. Allie
Fultz picked up the assist on the first goal, and Cairns had helpers on
the next two. After Stephanie Holguin cut the Eastern lead to 3-2,
Kelly Dando, Griffith, and Fultz each tallied in a three minute stretch
to give Eastern a 6-3 lead with just under twenty minutes remaining in
the first half.
The game then slowed for a bit until Arcadia
scored two more goals to again close the gap. Courtney Reinhold and
Chelsea Braungart scored unassisted goals three minutes apart to put
Eastern up 8-4 with nine minutes to play. Arcadia scored a fifth goal
with 2:22 to play. Eastern held a 12-10 edge in shots in the first
half.
The two teams exchanged goals to start the second half.
Eastern then ran off eight straight goals to put the game away. Kendall
Rood scored four times and Jess Field added three. Cairns and Allie
Fultz also added goals in the decisive stretch.
Kristy Getsay and
