The Eagles scored first in both games, but they were unable to tack on any additional runs. Sophomores Maggie McGowan and Theresa Esposito led the offense. Esposito scored both runs and McGowan batted her in each time. Molly Oberholzer, Jaclyn Gangemi and Michele Morongell also collected hits on the day.
The Valiants pounded 16 hits to win the opener 13-1 in five innings. The second game was 3-1 going into the bottom of the sixth. Manhattanville scored six times in the sixth to end the game with a 9-1 win.
"These were two very disappointing losses," said head coach Brittany Stroop following the game. "I feel we have the potential to have a very explosive offense, but we are not consistent yet. We have to admit we were beat and move on to the next game."
"We have plenty of games left in our season," Stroop added later. "The better we get at adjusting mid-game, the better we'll be."
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday as they host a non-conference double header with Haverford College at 3:00 PM.
