Eastern University Women's Lacrosse dropped their 2010 opener at Ursinus College. Kelly Dando scored a pair of early goals for the Eagles, but Ursinus scored six straight goals to break open a close game.
Dando
converted a free position shot to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the
third minute, but the Bears rallied with two quick tallies to claim a
2-1 edge just over five minutes into the game. Dando, a sophomore transfer, scored her second of the game to tie the contest on a pass from Courtney Reinhold, but Ursinus opened a 5-2 edge with three goals in a nine minute stretch.
Jess Field scored her first of the year on a free position shot midway through the period before Ursinus started the decisive run of the game. Elizabeth Cannon finished with five goals for the Bears. Lindsay Moosey scored the final tally of the contest with just under nine minutes to play.
Ursinus held a 31-12 advantage in shots and forced the Eagles into 28 turnovers. Lindsey Corbitt made 12 saves in her collegiate debut for the Eagles. Head Coach Camrin Azzarano
was frustrated with her team's inability to take care of the ball, but
was pleased with the progress her defense showed in forcing turnovers.
The Eagles return to action Saturday with a home game against Haverford College.
