The Eastern University Women's Lacrosse team is scheduled to leave
for Costa Rica at 4:00 am on Saturday. In retrospect, the Eagles might have liked to
have scheduled that trip for twelve and a half hours earlier after a
disappointing 16-6 home loss to Ursinus College. Jessie Basch scored
three goals and registered an assist in the loss.
The visiting
Bears jumped to an 8-1 lead in the opening fourteen minutes of the
game. Basch then scored on a nice pass from Katie Choquette to slow the
Bears down momentarily. Erin Fries and Basch scored the last two goals
of the half to answer another pair of Ursinus goals, and the Eagles
went to the break trailing 10-6.
The second half did not get
better for the Eagles as Elizabeth Cannon scored all three of her goals
after the break to help the guests to a ten goal edge. Cannon finished
the day with three goals and four assists. Lindsay Urban and Kristin
Wampole each scored three times for the visitors as well.
Eastern
will be in Costa Rica until Sunday March 8th. They will return to
action at home against Arcadia University on Thursday March 12th
