The Eastern University field hockey is in their home stretch. Coming into today, the Eagles had three remaining regular season games, all of which are Freedom Conference opponents. With a five game winning streak and an unbeaten record in conference play on the line, Eastern traveled to FDU-Florham for a 7:00 PM matchup. Two second half goals propelled the visitors to victory by a score of 2-0.
Eastern broke the scoreless deadlock 14 minutes into the second half, when Elya Troup found the stick of Olivia Derr to put the Eagles on top 1-0. Eleven minutes later, senior Lindsay Moyer rattled the back of the cage on an unassisted goal to double the Eastern lead and secure the win.
"The girls really had to work together today," said head coach Camrin Azzarano. "It was a very physical game and the girls were able to overcome that to pull out a great win for us."
The Eagles goalie, Laura Ressler finished the evening with three saves to record her fourth shut out of 2009. "Laura came up with two big saves for us at the end to secure the win." commented Azzarano.
Eastern returns to the road on Saturday against Misericordia at 11:00 AM. The Eagles will finish out their regular season at home against Delaware Valley on Tuesday, October 27 at 4:00 PM.
