would score the rest of the way, and the host Eagles would hold on for their first Freedom Conference win.
Bekah Roland again led the Eagles in scoring with a solid 17 point effort, but it was the work at the defensive end that allowed the Eagles to win. Led by Lizzie Wilson's ball pressure, the Eagles held their guests to just 19% shooting in the second half. The Eagles also forced the Devils into 23 turnovers for the game.
Eastern Head Coach Katie Levis said of her team's effort, "We did a nice job taking care of the ball, and although we did not have a great shooting day (29.5% from the field) we were able to get shots, control tempo, and force way more turnovers than we committed. We did not give them many uncontested looks at the basket."
While the Eagles held FDU to just five second half field goals, the Devils did manage to find their way to the foul line 18 times after the break. They scored 13 of their 23 second half points from teh charity stripe, while the Eagles connected on just 5-8 from behind the line.
Hannah Tobin scored all twelve of her points before half, as she helped the Eagles to forge a 29-25 lead at the break.
Roland scored ten points after the break to help the hosts hold their advantage until FDU's Danielle Michlovsky connected on a lay-up with 5:31 to give the Devils a 44-43 lead. The lead changed hands five times in the final five minutes and Poole's finish of a nice pass from Wilson gave the Eagles the final margin of victory. Poole finished the day with eight points on just six shots. Wilson registered a game-high 9 assists.
Matil Mangual finished with 13 points for the Devils, and Emily Cerankowski finished with a game-high 14 rebounds. Roland paced the Eagles with nine boards, and Tobin added eight.
Levis concluded saying, "We had different people step up in different moments, it was a very good team win." The Eagles will not have long to savor the win as they return to action Wednesday with a home game against Alvernia University.
