dropped a tough 78-65 decision at Delaware Valley College.
The loss is the third straight for the Eagles (3-7, 0-5). The Aggies snapped a three game losing streak to level their record at 7-7 overall and improve to 3-4 in the Freedom.
The host Aggies led throughout most of the first half, building the advantage to as many as eight on a pair of occasions. Eastern rallied and tied the contest at 34-34 after Carmen Weaver drained a 3-pointer with 1:55 remaining in the stanza. However, the Aggies scored four straight on back-to-back layups by Kim Vennera to take a 38-34 lead into the intermission.
The Eagles connected on the first two baskets of the second half – jumpers by Hannah Tobin and Jeriah Garton – to once again knot the score. Delaware Valley then went on a 12-3 run, including five by Jackie Shunkwiler, to build a 50-41 lead with 13:47 remaining. The advantage was still nine at 54-45 when the Aggies put the contest away with 13 of the next 14 points for a 67-46 lead with 7:36 to go. Eastern never got closer than 13 points the rest of the way.
Roland connected on 10-21 field goals including 2-4 from behind the arc. She also picked up five rebounds. Hannah Tobin joined Roland in double figures with 12 points in the loss. Lizzie Wilson scored eight points up and picked up a career high eight assists.
Vennera finished Saturday's contest with 21 points, 10 rebounds and four steals to lead the Aggies.
