Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls In Opener

Eastern University Women's Soccer dropped their season opener to DePauw University in the opening game of the Bob Baptista Invitational at Wheaton College. The Eagles gave up a goal in each half and were unable to find the net in defeat.

The Eagles had several early chances, but struggled to find a rhythm in the opening moments of the game. DePauw opened the scoring on an 18 yard strike in the 32nd minute of the opening half. Both teams fired four shots before intermission, but the one goal advantage stood for the Indiana squad.

The Eagles dominated the early moments out of the break, but DePauw's Brooke Shipley made several key stops in the Tiger net. In the 61st minute, DePauw took advantage of a brief stint of possession in the Eastern zone to double their advantage on a good finish of a bouncing ball. The Eagles (0-1) will look to rebound tomorrow as they take on the two-time defending National Champion host Thunder in a 4:30 game Saturday afternoon.

Coach Mouw said of the day, "We struggled to find our game today. We had chances to tie the score early in the second half, and DePauw capitalized on their opportunities while we did not. We can and must step up our game for tomorrow."
For the day the Eagles, outshot the Tigers 14-10 and had a 6-2 advantage in corners.
