April 3: Softball Drops Doubleheader at Widener

In an evening dedicated to raising cancer awareness at Widener University, the Eastern University softball team struggled to generate offense and dropped a pair of games to the Pride. As the weather got colder and the evening progressed, the Eagles managed just seven hits in the doubleheader loss.

Widener jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first game with a pair of home runs. The Eagles put runners on base in each of the five innings of the first game, but Widener's pitching and defense only allowed a single runner to reach third base.

Eastern gave up single tallies in the second and third inning before opening up with another four runs in the fourth to end the game.  Raychel Weis took the loss for the Eagles.

First year pitcher Kristine Rosko went to the mound for the Eagles in game two. After giving up a three in the first inning, the right-hander settled in and kept the Pride batters off balance for much of the rest of the way. The Eagles, however, managed just four hits in the second game and were only able to get runners into scoring position with two outs in the second. Elise Murante reached base all three times she came to the plate in the game, but she finished each of those innings inning stranded at first base.

The Eagles return to action with an important PAC doubleheader against Immaculata on Saturday.
