April 17: Women's Lacrosse Beats Centenary

Seven different players scored as the Eastern University women's lacrosse team beat Centenary College 18-9 to improve to 6-1 in PAC play. Erin Reimel led the Eastern attack with five goals and an assist.

The Eagles opened the scoring with goals from Erin Fries and Reimel, but the Cyclones responded moments later with a pair of goals less than 30 seconds apart to tie the game at 2-2. The two teams remained tied until midway through the period.

Reimel started a five goal spurt with her second of the day with thirteen minutes to play in the half. Coach Azzarano said of the first half, "Centenary was very difficult for us to play against, but we showed very good discipline in our offense and began to find really good chances." Katie Maguire, Katie Choquette, Grace Griffith and Reimel each scored a goal in the eight minute stretch.

Centenary cut the deficit to 7-3 late in the period, but Maguire answered with her second of the day and tenth of the year to send the Eagles to the break up 8-3. Kim Campbell made nine of her thirteen saves in the opening period. Azzarano said of her goalie, "Kim made some big plays in the first half and had a really solid overall performance."

The Eagles scored the first four goals of the second half to put the game away. Griffith and Choquette each finished the game with three goals and two assists. Fries, Maguire, and Liza O'Keefe each finished with two goals. Jess Field had a goal and an assist.

The Eagles return home for another PAC contest this Saturday with a 1:00 pm game against Misericordia University.
