deadlocked at four at the half, but fell behind by four in the third quarter before ultimately falling 9-7 in non-conference action on Saturday. Andrew Minnick , Michael Ryan, and Ben O'Donnell each had a pair of goals in the loss.

The host Captains out-shot the Eagles 10-5 while scoring four times in the decisive third period. Christopher Newport increased their lead to 9-4 with a goal just over six minutes into the fourth period. The Eagles made a late push as O'Donnell and Ryan scored twice in a minute and Minnick added his second of the day with a minute and a half to play. The Captains were able to hold the 9-7 lead to improve their record to 4-3 on the year. 

Eastern goalie Zach Rivest recorded 14 saves. The Eagles return home to host Plymouth State on Monday afternoon.
