Eastern Volleyball earned a #25 ranking in the most recent AVCA National poll, and they showed their quality as they raced past the Misericordia University Cougars with 25-12 and 25-8 scores in the first two games. Misericordia closed the gap in the third set, but the Eagles closed out the match with a 25-21 final set win.

Courtney Reinhold led the Eagles with eight kills and a.353 hitting percentage. The first year outside hitter also picked up five digs in the match. Junior Kara Hildebrand added nine kills on just sixteen attempts. Maria Horning used all of her hitters on the way to an efficient 29 assist effort. Good passing and strong serving allowed the Eastern offense to stay in system and use multiple options at the net. Nicole Burns and Mandy Platt both hit strong percentages from the middle position.

Coach Birtwistle commented that his team did the things they needed to do earn the win, and that they continued to grow in their ability to challenge at the net. Eastern improves to 4-0 in the Freedom Conference. The Eagles return to action Saturday morning with a homecoming game against Cabrini College.
