Eastern University Volleyball rolled to a 3-0 Homecoming win over Eagle Road rival Cabrini College Saturday morning. The 25th ranked Eagles improved to 21-1 with the win. The match was the first non-conference contest between the two programs.
Eastern jumped to 25-14 wins in the first two sets and held off a Cavalier rally in the third to take the match. Courtney Reinhold put together a dominating performance with 14 kills, four aces, eight digs, and five blocks to lead the Eagles on the day. The Eastern team hit a dominating .440.
Nicole Burns enjoyed a strong day at the net with nine kills on just thirteen attempts. The sophomore middle also contributed six blocks for a 14 point day. Eastern Head Coach Mark Birtwistle noted that both his middles, Burns and senior Mandy Platt , were able to get involved in the offense, and that is usually indicative of good passing. Platt had eight kills and hit .462. Kara Hildebrand put down eight kills while hitting .500.
Maria Horning ran the efficient Eastern attack with 37 assists.
The Eagles return to Freedom Conference action at Wilkes on Wednesday night.
