Women's Basketball Can't Push Past Griffins

on a 14-3 run to go into the break up 12. Hannah Tobin scored all 18 of her points in the second half, but the Eagles were unable to slow down the Gwynedd-Mercy attack and fell 92-57.

Senior guard Mandy Kuiken showed steady ball handling, and connected on four of six three-pointers in the first half to help the Eagles keep things close through the  first fifteen minutes of of action.She had thirteen at the break to lead all scorers. Kuiken finished the day with 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.

The second half saw Tobin and Shaneen Brown show promise at the offensive end. Tobin connected on nine of eleven attempts in the second half. The sophomore from Paxinos, PA finished the evening with seven rebounds and a steal. Brown snared five offensive rebounds and earned five different trips to the foul line. She finished with seven points and nine rebounds.

The Griffins took advantage of their depth and pushed the ball with consistency to break the game open. They shot 62% for the half and secured ten offensive rebounds on their way to a 60 point explosion. Kate Wissniewki led the hosts with 20 points on the night.

Eastern coach Katie Levis said of the game, "I was really pleased with the way we competed early, we hope to build on that intensity and some of the really positive developments at the offensive end of the floor. Shaneen continues to look more comfortable in the post, and Hannah looked very good in the second half."

The Eagles have a day to recover before traveling to Allentown for a Saturday game against Cedar Crest College.
